Unilumin Upad IV 2.6 preset: cabinet grid & viewing distance

Problem. A 6 x 3.375 m (16:9) outdoor wall built from the Unilumin Upad IV 2.6 has to resolve to a whole number of cabinets, which shifts the actual finished size away from the target dimensions. The real sizing decision is working out that cabinet grid and its native resolution before committing to a footprint, and confirming the closest seat sits inside the pitch's optimal viewing band rather than too close for the content to resolve cleanly.

Answer. At this target size the Upad IV 2.6 resolves to a 12 x 7 cabinet grid, giving an actual wall of 6 x 3.5 m rather than the nominal 6 x 3.375 m. That grid delivers a native resolution of 2304 x 1344 (approximately 3.1 MP), which the calculator uses to size type, motion graphics, and video content correctly for the closest seat.

How this preset reads — the engineering view.

Inside that band the pixel structure disappears into a clean image; closer than 2.6 m individual pixels start to read as a grid rather than a picture.

7000 nits is an outdoor brightness figure, built to stay legible against direct sun rather than the dim ambient light of an indoor stage or lobby, so this preset assumes an uncovered or partially shaded outdoor site rather than an indoor fit-out. Front-service access means cabinets can be maintained from the viewing side, which matters where there is no rear walkway, and the rental-frame chassis is built for repeated installs and strikes rather than a single permanent fixed build. The native 2304 x 1344 output (about 3.1 MP) suits broadcast-style video, motion graphics, and mixed content at this size rather than fine small-type reading distances.

  • The 2.6-5.2 m viewing band is a general pitch-based guideline (pitch x 1.0 to x 2.0), not a fixed rule for every content type or ambient light condition.
  • Cabinet snapping means the actual built wall is very slightly larger than most target dimensions entered; treat the calculator's output size as the one to plan around, not the typed-in target.
  • Brightness, viewing distance, and resolution figures are manufacturer-stated specifications for this model and do not account for a specific site's sun angle, shading, or local dust and heat exposure.

How this preset differs from its siblings

The Upad IV 2.6's 2.6 mm pitch sits it closer to the screen than coarser outdoor pitches (such as 4 mm or 6 mm products), which pulls its optimal viewing band nearer and raises its native resolution per square metre for the same wall size. Its 7000-nit outdoor brightness and front-service, rental-frame configuration also differ from indoor fixed-install LED products, which typically run lower brightness and rear-service access. This preset exists separately because pitch, brightness, and service method all change the sizing and viewing-distance math, so a generic outdoor LED preset would not reflect this specific cabinet's numbers.
