How this preset reads — the engineering view.
Pixel pitch is the number that drives everything else in this preset. Barco XT 1.5 is a 1.5 mm pitch fine-pitch indoor cabinet, and that figure sets both the cabinet grid the calculator returns (7 × 7 cabinets for this wall) and the optimal viewing band for video content — approximately 1.5 m to 3 m, using the common 1.0×–2.0× pitch-to-metres guide. Sit much closer than 1.5 m and individual pixels start to resolve; sit well beyond 3 m and the fine pitch is no longer earning its premium over a coarser product.
At 1200 nits, Barco XT 1.5 is sized for a controlled indoor environment — a boardroom, lobby, control room or broadcast studio with managed ambient light, not a daylit atrium or storefront. The cabinet is wall-mount with front service, which keeps the install shallow and lets technicians access drivers and modules from the room side rather than needing rear egress. Native resolution at this wall size works out to 2800 × 1575, roughly 4.4 megapixels — enough headroom for full-HD source content mapped 1:1 with margin, or for cropped 4K content at reduced scale.

What the calculator deliberately does not decide: the structural and rigging load the wall imposes on the host wall or truss, the power and data cable-run plan back to the rack, the video processor or scaler that feeds the cabinets, how source content resolution maps onto the 2800 × 1575 native canvas, and ambient-light calibration for the room the wall actually sits in. Each of those is a separate engineering step once the grid and resolution here are confirmed.
What this preset deliberately does not solve
- Cabinet snapping means the actual wall dimensions (4.2 × 2.36 m) will differ slightly from any target size you drag to — this is a physical constraint of whole-cabinet grids, not a calculator limitation.
- The 1.5–3 m optimal viewing band is a general pitch-to-distance guide for video content, not a substitute for a sightline study of the specific room and seating layout.
- 1200 nits assumes a controlled indoor environment; the calculator does not model ambient light levels, window glare or the calibration needed for a specific room.
How this preset differs from its siblings
Barco XT 1.5 sits at a finer pitch than typical broadcast or stage-backdrop cabinets, which pulls its optimal viewing band much closer to the wall than a 2.5–2.6 mm product designed for lobby or stage distances. The front-service, wall-mount profile also targets fixed indoor installs with room-side access rather than a rear-service or ground-support rig built for touring or temporary stage use. This preset exists separately from the hospitality-lobby and stage-backdrop presets because the cabinet, the viewing distance band and the install profile are all materially different at this pitch.
