Leyard CarbonLight CLF-2.5 cabinet grid & viewing distance
Problem. A 5 x 2.8 m indoor wall needs a cabinet layout that lands close to the target size without odd part-cabinet edges, and a closest-seat distance that keeps the pixel structure invisible rather than a visible grid. Getting both right up front avoids a re-order once the cabinet count and viewing zone are fixed on site.
Answer. At 5 x 2.8 m the CLF-2.5 grid resolves to 10 x 6 cabinets, giving an actual wall of 5 x 3 m rather than the exact target height. Native resolution across that grid is 2000 x 1200 pixels, roughly 2.4 MP, at a 2.5 mm pixel pitch.
02 / In depth
How this preset reads — the engineering view.
Pixel pitch of 2.5 mm is the number that drives everything else here: it sets the cabinet grid (10 x 6 cabinets for this wall) and it sets the optimal viewing band, calculated as roughly 1.0 to 2.0 times the pitch in metres, or about 2.5-5 m for this product. Inside that band the individual pixels are not distinguishable at normal viewing angles; well inside it, on the other hand, the grid starts to show.
1500 nits is a controlled-indoor brightness figure, sufficient for lobbies, auditoria, and broadcast-style rooms with managed ambient light rather than daylight-facing glazing or outdoor exposure. The CLF-2.5 is listed for both-service access (front and rear) and for rental use, which suits rooms where the wall is reconfigured between events as well as fixed installs where rear maintenance access is available. At 2000 x 1200 native (~2.4 MP), the wall comfortably carries 1080p and most 4K-source content scaled down without visible softness.
Drag the wall-size control to change width and height and watch the cabinet grid and native resolution recompute live. Because cabinets are a fixed physical unit, the calculator snaps to whole cabinets, so the actual wall dimensions it returns may differ slightly from the target size you dragged to — that's expected behaviour, not an error.
The calculator sizes the wall and viewing band only. It does not size structural or rigging load for the finished wall weight, plan the power and data cable runs between cabinets, specify a video processor or scaler for the source signal, map content resolution to the native panel, or calibrate for ambient light in the actual room. Those all need a site-specific engineering pass.
What this preset deliberately does not solve
- The 2.5-5 m viewing band is a general pitch-based guideline, not a fixed rule — critical viewing angle, content type, and room lighting can shift the comfortable range in either direction.
- Cabinet-snapped actual dimensions (5 x 3 m here) will not exactly match every target size typed in; treat the calculator's output, not the typed input, as the number to build against.
- Nit rating and viewing band figures describe the panel in isolation; real-room legibility still depends on ambient light levels and the content's own brightness and contrast.
How this preset differs from its siblings
Other mid-pitch indoor LED products in the same broad pitch range can differ on brightness ceiling, service access (front-only versus both-service), and whether they are offered for rental deployment or fixed install only — each of which changes cabinet handling, maintenance planning, and where the product fits in a venue. This preset exists separately because the CLF-2.5's specific combination of 2.5 mm pitch, 1500 nit rating, and both-service rental profile produces its own cabinet grid and viewing-distance numbers that a generic mid-pitch preset would not reflect.
