the rules the practice writes against.
NBC 2016, IS 2189, EN 54, IEC 62386, IEEE 802.3bt — the published codes that anchor specifications across life-safety, lighting, surveillance and networking.

Codes and standards are the published rules a specification anchors to. NBC 2016 governs fire and life-safety provisions across India. IS 2189 specifies fire alarm system design. The EN 54 series governs European fire-detection and voice-alarm equipment — EN 54-16 for PA voice-evacuation — frequently referenced in Indian specifications. IEC 62386 defines DALI. IEEE 802.3bt defines PoE++. Each is a body of engineering consensus that the specification can defer to — and that the AHJ, the insurer and the client expect to see referenced.
Our engineering pack cites the specific clause numbers our designs comply with. A fire-alarm panel specification names the IS 2189 sections it satisfies. A PA voice-evacuation specification names the EN 54-16 clauses it is benchmarked against. A PoE budget cites the IEEE 802.3bt power class. The discipline of citing the clause — rather than the standard in the abstract — is what makes the specification reviewable by the AHJ and defensible at audit. It is also what distinguishes engineering from procurement.

National Building Code 2016 (India)
India's umbrella building-services code. Sets fire and life-safety, structural, building-services and accessibility requirements that every ELV, fire, PA and BMS scope must cite line-by-line.
standard
IS 2189 — Fire Detection
Indian Standard for the selection, installation and maintenance of automatic fire-detection and alarm systems. Cited line-by-line in every TechnoGuru fire-alarm engineering pack.
standard
EN 54-16 — Voice Alarm Equipment
European standard for voice-alarm control and indicating equipment (VACIE) — the equipment benchmark cited on PA voice-evacuation specifications executed under NBC 2016 Part 4's voice-evacuation provisions.
standard
NFPA 855 — BESS Installation
US standard for the installation of stationary energy-storage systems. LFP-chemistry banks are NFPA 855-compliant for indoor installation without bespoke fire suppression; NMC chemistry is not.
protocol
Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3)
IEEE-standard delivery of low-voltage DC power over the same Cat-class cable as data. PoE+ delivers up to 30 W; PoE++ Type 3/4 up to 90 W — sufficient for IP cameras, APs, VOIP phones and small displays.
