Case file
Operator environments for security, utilities, transport and industrial monitoring — where the display wall, the operator position and the infrastructure behind them are engineered as one system that runs continuously.
/ The discipline, in detail
How we approach control rooms & command centres.
A control room is not a video wall with desks in front of it. It is a room whose geometry is set by sightlines: the furthest operator decides the pixel pitch, the console layout decides the wall's height and curvature, and the duty cycle decides almost everything else. We start from where people sit and what they must read from there, then size the wall — not the other way round.
Continuous operation changes every specification behind the glass. A wall that runs 24/7 is chosen for serviceability and redundant power rather than headline brightness; the network carrying camera and telemetry feeds is sized for sustained load rather than peak; and the rack, the UPS and the cooling are part of the design rather than an afterthought. We hold published figures for the LED cabinets, switches and access points involved, each with the manufacturer document and the date it was read.
Operator comfort is an engineering requirement, not a furnishing one. Ambient light is controlled so the wall can run at a lower, steadier output; source routing is designed so an operator changes what they see without waiting; and the console is laid out so the same task is done the same way at every position. Where a scheme needs statutory or life-safety integration, that is scoped with the relevant consultant rather than assumed.

Product intelligence
What we specify for this system, and what we hold published figures for
The wall is sized from the furthest operator's sightline, and the switching behind it carries camera and telemetry feeds at sustained load rather than peak — so the cabinet geometry and the switch capability are specified together.

Figures come from manufacturer documents, each recorded with its source and the date it was read. Holding published data for a product means we specify and integrate it. It does not make TechnoGuru that manufacturer’s dealer, distributor, reseller or appointed representative, and no such relationship should be inferred from a product appearing here.

/ Frequently asked
Control Rooms & Command Centres — what buyers ask first.
How is a control room different from a video wall project?
A video wall is one component of a control room. The control-room decisions are the ones around it — how far the furthest operator sits, whether the room runs continuously, how feeds reach the wall, and what happens to the display and the network when mains power does not. A wall specified without those is a screen, not an operator environment.
What pixel pitch does a control room need?
It follows the furthest operator, not the room size: minimum comfortable viewing distance in metres is roughly the pixel pitch in millimetres, so an operator 3 m back is comfortable with a P2.5 or finer. We measure the actual sightlines from the seating plan before recommending a pitch.
Can you work from our existing consultant's drawings?
Yes. We coordinate against the drawings and specification you already hold, and we say where a published figure we rely on comes from. Where a scheme requires statutory approval or life-safety design, that remains with the licensed consultant.
