Problem. A 20 x 12 m restaurant dining room needs even background-music coverage without the cabinet becoming a visual or acoustic distraction at the table. The real decision is whether a compact point-source cabinet like the K-array Lyzard KZ1 I can hold a comfortable listening level out to the far tables at a sensible drive setting.

Answer. For a listener seated 6 m from the cabinet at 50% drive, the planner reports an SPL of approximately 67 dB — a calm background-music level for dining, well under the 86 dB @1 m rated maximum. The 140 deg x 140 deg dispersion gives a horizontal (-6 dB) coverage radius of approximately 16.5 m, comfortably spanning the room's 20 m length from a single mounting position.

How this preset reads — the engineering view.

The Lyzard KZ1 I is rated 86 dB SPL at 1 m. Sound pressure falls with distance under the inverse-square relationship, so at 6 m and full output the planner shows roughly 70 dB; wound back to a 50% drive setting for background dining use, that becomes approximately 67 dB at the listener — headroom intact, nothing straining.

The cabinet's 140 deg x 140 deg (H x V) dispersion is unusually wide for a point source, which is what produces the approximately 16.5 m horizontal coverage radius on the -6 dB axis. A wide, symmetrical pattern favours even near-field fill across tables close to and away from the cabinet rather than throw down a narrow corridor.   • The coverage radius uses the cabinet's rated dispersion angle; off-axis response and real-world boundary reflections are not modelled.
  • Box count is a front-coverage estimate only, not a substitute for a measured or simulated acoustic design.

How this preset differs from its siblings

Other point-source options in this planner carry higher rated SPL and narrower dispersion, which suits larger rooms or louder programme material at the cost of a more directional pattern. The Lyzard KZ1 I's combination of a modest 86 dB @1 m rating with an unusually wide 140 deg x 140 deg pattern makes it a near-field, even-fill specialist rather than a high-SPL or long-throw cabinet — this page exists so a visitor evaluating this specific cabinet for a small-to-medium room sees its actual SPL and coverage numbers rather than a generic point-source result.
