Samsung LSP9T throw distance & placement at 100 inch

Problem. The Samsung LSP9T is built to sit on a low console immediately below the screen, so the real placement question is cabinet clearance and wall offset rather than a long throw run down the room. At a 100-inch 16:9 image, the difference between the unit sitting flush to the wall and a few centimetres proud of it is enough to shift focus and image squareness.

Answer. For a 100-inch 16:9 screen (2.21 m wide), the LSP9T's 0.19-0.19:1 throw ratio puts the projector 0.42-0.42 m from the wall. In practice that means the unit sits on a console just in front of the screen rather than mounted overhead or at the back of the room.

How this preset reads — the engineering view.

The LSP9T uses an ultra-short-throw (UST) lens, so the calculator returns a single tight distance rather than a range: 0.42-0.42 m from the wall for a 100-inch image. That places the whole unit on furniture beneath the screen, which is the defining trait of UST placement versus a standard or long-throw projector shelf-mounted well back in the room.

At 2800 lumens with a tri-laser RGB light source and native 3840x2160 resolution, the LSP9T is built for a controlled or moderately lit living room rather than a bright, sun-facing space. The laser source supports a wide colour range at this resolution, but ambient light still competes with any screen, so room lighting control matters more here than throw distance does.

Drag the screen size slider on the calculator and watch the throw distance move in step with it - because this is a fixed 0.19:1 ratio, distance and image width scale together with no zoom range to absorb the difference. For a UST unit, also check the physical cabinet depth in front of the wall and consider an ambient-light-rejecting (ALR) screen, since that combination is what UST setups typically use to hold contrast at these lumen levels.

The calculator computes throw distance only. It does not account for screen gain or an ALR screen's rejection angle, wall or ceiling mount hardware, the exact lens variant if a range of similar UST bodies exists, or the audio system paired with the display - each of those is a separate decision from placement.

What this preset deliberately does not solve

  • The stated throw distance assumes a flat wall directly behind the unit with no furniture or decor intruding into the projection path.
  • 2800 lumens is workable in dim-to-moderate light but will read dimmer than the room's ambient brightness suggests once daylight or ceiling lights are added.
  • As a fixed 0.19:1 UST ratio with no zoom, screen size and distance are locked together - there is no room to fine-tune the image by moving the unit alone.

How this preset differs from its siblings

Not every ultra-short-throw laser TV shares the LSP9T's exact 0.19:1 ratio or 2800-lumen, tri-laser RGB combination - some UST models sit at different ratios or use single- or dual-laser engines with different colour and brightness trade-offs. That difference changes both the calculated throw distance and how the image holds up against ambient light at the same screen size, which is why this model gets its own preset rather than sharing a generic UST page.
