Kathmandu — our flagship Nepal market for premium residential and hospitality systems.
Nepal's capital is a fast-growing market for premium residences, boutique hospitality and corporate AV. We support Kathmandu projects with cross-border procurement, on-site engineering rotations from Guwahati and partner-coordinated installation. Customs and import documentation is handled through our experienced Nepal liaison.
Kathmandu is one of our most active cross-border engagements. The city's premium residential market in Lalitpur, Bansbari and the surrounding hill districts, its boutique-hospitality cluster, and the institutional and government build-out form the bulk of our work in Nepal. We have delivered villa cinema rooms, KNX-controlled lighting, hospitality AV and life-safety projects across the city.
Cross-border procurement runs through Indian customs with shipment routed through Birgunj or directly via air freight where the project timeline justifies it. Our IEC supports the entire export-import process. Site rotations from Guwahati are scheduled to commissioning windows; our Indian engineering bench plus on-the-ground installation partners deliver the work end-to-end.
Nepal's distinct architectural language — traditional wood, stone and brick interiors married to contemporary design — produces some of the most considered residential projects we work on. Our practice's engagement model in Kathmandu emphasises the documentation and AMC discipline our Indian work is built around, brought to a market that increasingly rewards it.
· The Kathmandu practice
Typical projects,
specific to Kathmandu.
The engineering reality of working in this city — projects, infrastructure constraints, systems briefs.
Typical projects
- Premium private villas across Lalitpur, Bansbari and the surrounding hill districts — Rako and KNX automation, reference home cinema rooms with calibrated 9.1.6 Atmos chains, multi-zone audio and BMS-integrated comfort layers.
- Boutique-hospitality cluster — concierge AV, banquet PA, guest-room automation and back-of-house life-safety as one coordinated stack.
- Institutional and government engagements — surveillance, access control and life-safety upgrades.
- Heritage hospitality across the Kathmandu valley — properties married to Newari traditional architecture with contemporary AV and life-safety.
Infrastructure challenges
- Cross-border procurement timeline — premium fixtures clear Indian customs and ship through Birgunj or by air freight; we plan 4–8 week buffer on every order against the Nepal commissioning calendar.
- Monsoon-season road access on the Birgunj-Kathmandu corridor affects last-mile freight — we route by air for time-critical engagements.
- Network connectivity carries dependence on the Indian backbone — operationally-critical deployments specify dual-ISP with cellular failover and on-site backup capacity.
- Power profile is variable; mission-critical UPS-with-BESS specification is the standard for hospitality, institutional and high-end residential engagements.
Systems commonly deployed
- Rako and KNX automation — the premium-residential reference standard for the Kathmandu valley.
- Reference home cinema (Yamaha, Crown, JBL Professional, BenQ) — for the high-end residential segment.
- Concierge AV and banquet PA — for the boutique-hospitality cluster.
- Cat6A structured cabling — the campus-wide standard for institutional and hospitality builds.
- Online UPS with lithium-ion BESS — for the mission-critical-power layer.
